No answers yet on tax protests

The Tunica County Tax Assessor’s Office stands behind its current property assessments.

Tax consultant Bill Bryant defended several assessments or valuations of property for tax purposes during last week’s Board of Supervisors meeting.

Tunica County heard protests from four casinos – Fitzgeralds, Resorts, Hollywood and Bally’s – and two other businesses.

Two men representing the casino properties collectively challenged the method being used by the county to calculate the assessments.

Look out! Eddie Mac is back in town

Chef Eddie McGregor has made his way back to downtown Tunica, reclaiming the kitchen of the Café Marie.  This time around, Chef Eddie is the sole owner of the Cafe’ Marie.

For those of you who do not know, Chef Eddie operated the Café Marie from 2006-2010. Chef Eddie launched a catering company and three deli style restaurants in Memphis, TN, catering events such as office lunches, baby showers, weddings, rehearsal dinners, serving 12 to 1,200 people.  With the delis now left in trusted hands, he is back in Tunica and ready to pour his heart and soul into the Café Marie.

GTA cranking up car plant construction


A long-delayed plan to manufacture electric cars in Tunica County is shifting into high gear, according to a news release last week by the company.
On July 17, GreenTech Automotive (GTA) officials announced the start of the primary building phase of the project.
“After more than a year of planning, testing and site preparation, we are excited for GreenTech’s permanent home to start taking shape in Phase 2,” said Charles Wang, GreenTech chairman and CEO.
