Burglary under investigation
Local law enforcement is seeking the public’s help in solving a burglary case at a local attraction.
On June 19, officials at Tunica National Golf and Tennis reported missing merchandise from a retail area. The value of the items was not released.
Local attorney tied to Davis case
Tunica County prosecutor Chuck Graves has been assigned to a case that is drawing attention in a neighboring county.
DeSoto County Circuit Court Judge Robert Chamberlin recently appointed Graves to try a misdemeanor charge against Southaven mayor Greg Davis.
Aldermen incorporate recycling, review fine collections
Green was definitely the color of the day at the Board of Aldermen on Tuesday, June 19. Officials discussed a new recycling effort and ways to collect outstanding fines from municipal court.
Mayor Chuck Cariker said Waste Management, which handles town garbage collections, had agreed to provide the town a recycling bin for $100 per month. The bin will be located on the concrete pad near the MarketPlace. Cariker said it will be emptied as it gets full, and the Town will not be responsible for sorting goods.
Cariker said more details will be available in coming weeks.
People’s Choice deadline close
People’s Choice voters have one more day to turn in ballots for the annual contest. Today (Friday) is the last day to bring your ballot and drawing entry to The Tunica Times office, 986 Magnolia Street in Tunica.
Mailed ballots postmarked June 30 or earlier will also be accepted.
This is the 16th year of the contest, in which Tunica Countians select their favorite individuals and businesses in 80 categories. Those submitting a ballot are entered into a drawing for $500.
