When I bought a pair of Munro shoes in the fall of 2009, I never dreamed I would be writing about the Arkansas-based company some 18 months later.
But if there is a shining example of an American business that is committed to its American workers, its retailers and its customers, it’s Munro.
Founded in 1972 by Don Munro, the company is headquartered in Hot Springs, AR and has two other plants and a distribution facility in our neighboring state.
Pushed by competition from low-wage nation China, Munro has established a niche market supplying shoes to the hard to fit, women with especially wide or slim, large or small feet. Today, under the label Munro American, they make shoes for women who are on their feet a lot at work but still want to look professional.
