Ballot swells for county election
In the aftermath of a March 1 deadline, 49 individuals have qualified to run for various county offices in 2011.
Three have qualified as candidates for sheriff: incumbent K.C. Hamp, Arthur “Hot Shot” Ankston and Byron Vaughan Sr. Rechelle Siggers and incumbent Wealthia “Susie” White are candidates for Chancery Clerk. Sharon Granberry Reynolds, the incumbent, and Lawyer Porter Jr. have qualified to run for Circuit Clerk. The Tax Assessor’s Race includes Leigh Graves, Robert E. Hall, Norma J. Anderson, Tammie Turner and Angie Floyd. Four candidates are seeking the office of coroner. They are: Scott Peebles, incumbent Glenn D. Grant, Christopher Thomas and Casey Johnson.
