Homemade in Mississippi
It was gratifying to know that Diane Sawyer picked up on our idea to promote American-made products and literally ran with it (just kidding, of course, though we did start our series first).
Mississippi’s own Viking Range Corporation, headquartered in Greenwood, employs 1,000 people and manufactures ultra high-end kitchen appliances in four plants in Leflore County.
The first full-production stove came off the assembly line in 1987; since then, the company has garnered worldwide recognition and multiple industry awards.
Viking has expanded its product line to include refrigerators, dishwashers, disposers, an outdoor cooking line, cookware, cutlery, accessories and more.
Founder Fred Carl, Jr. remains at the helm as CEO of the privately-held company.
