LeVaughn tapped as medical examiner
Mississippi Department of Public Safety Commissioner Albert Santa Cruz is pleased to announce Dr. Mark LeVaughn has joined DPS as the state’s chief medical examiner. Dr. LeVaughn becomes the first full time state medical examiner since 1995.
An Ohio native, Dr. LeVaughn received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee, College of Medicine in Memphis, Tennessee. He completed his pathology specialty training at West Virginia University Medical Center and forensic training at the University of Tennessee Division of Forensic Sciences. He is a certified diplomat of the American Board of Pathology in both anatomic and forensic pathology as well as a member of the National Association of Medical Examiners.
