Disaster loans available to farmers
“Emergency loans for farmers, ranchers and operators are available through the Coahoma County Office of the Farm Service Agency,” Bobbie Butler, FSA Farm Loan Manager said .
According to Butler, this authority is pursuant to Secretary Vilsack’s declaration on Feb. 28, 2011 of a major disaster in Mississippi, caused by drought that occurred from May 1 through Dec. 31, 2010. As a result, Tunica County has been designated as primary natural disaster area eligible for Federal Disaster Assistance pursuant to Section 321 (a) of the Consolidated Farm and Rural Development Act.
