Johnson’s years of hard work highlighted
Volunteer Northwest Mississippi will honor recipients of the 2011 President’s Volunteer Service Awards on April 12 at a dinner in the Haraway Center on the campus of Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia. The awards are made possible through The President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation (the Council) established in 2003 to recognize the valuable contributions volunteers are making in our communities and encourage more people to serve. The Council created the President’s Volunteer Service Award program as a way to thank and honor Americans who, by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer service.
Recipients from throughout the eight-county region serviced by Volunteer Northwest Mississippi include one person from Tunica County. Sandy Williams, who submitted the nomination, said Gail Johnson was a very deserving recipient.
