NRCS announces funding for organic initiative
USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is taking applications for a 2011 nationwide Organic Initiative to encourage more organic agriculture production. Funding for the initiative is being made available as part of the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP).
“EQIP has always been available to organic producers, but with the new Farm Bill, specific funds are being set aside to assist organic producers,” stated Al Garner, Mississippi State Conservationist for NRCS. “The goal of this state-wide organic farming program is to assist producers with making beneficial, cost effective changes to production systems for cool and warm season vegetables and herbs..”
