Severe storms add to residents’ woes
For two nights, county residents dug in and held on as a series of storms passed through the area.
High winds and thunderstorms took their toll on the southern part of the county Monday night, April 25, and the morning of Tuesday, April 26. According to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, two homes sustained major damage and residents reported structural damage in the area between Maud and Sarah roads. A mobile home just off US. 61 and Lee Place Road was destroyed, and power poles were down throughout the area.
