Speaker urges students to ‘believe in yourself’
More than 120 top scholars at Coahoma Community College heard “life lessons” from a recent, honor graduate forewarning them, “If you want success, there is a heavy price to pay; you have to believe in yourself.”
Speaking the Presidential Scholars program, Dr. Renita Shaw-Parker, a 1999 CCC graduate, said “Success is earned; no one is going to give it to you.”
“When you leave Coahoma, you have to show that you deserve to be successful and fight for your success,” she continued. “If you can do it here, you can do it anywhere,” Shaw-Parker said.
