Editorial: In praise of volunteers
Yesterday (Tuesday), a short note came in the mail from an American Red Cross volunteer who had been assigned to the shelter in Tunica County:
“Tunica Times, these three little girls came in the GW Henderson, Tunica and asked to volunteer. The American Red Cross is housing flood victims. [Editor’s note: The Tunica shelter closed Friday, May 27.] The girls made up kits for children, stuffed animals, toothpaste, tooth brushes, etc. We gave them a tour and put them to work. I thought this would be a cute picture for your local newspaper.”
The volunteer, Mary Westgate, identified the girls as Justice Luster, Precious Luster and Brianna Johnson.
