Every time I turn on Peabody Street heading toward the highway, I pass the forlorn remnants of what was once a center of summer social life in the town.
The old Recreation Club pool is overgrown with weeds, and its concession stand and pump house look ready to tumble over in the next big wind. There’s no telling what the pool itself looks like.
