Court sides with Graves
For the second time, a local attorney has been forgiven of contempt of court charges stemming from a 2009 incident at the Tunica County Courthouse.
In late July, the Mississippi Supreme Court upheld a court of appeals ruling for Chuck Graves of Tunica. The initial decision reversed three charges against Graves, and the high court agreed that “Graves was denied his right to due process.”
Graves was charged with contempt and incarcerated by Circuit Court Judge Albert Smith. Smith serves as a judicial official for Tunica, Coahoma and Bolivar counties.
