Going Green: Local family resurrecting golf course
What once was will be again.
Crews are now working at River Bend Links in Tunica Resorts to put back what the Mississippi River destroyed with high water in May of this year. The Scottish style course is set to open in early November, according to David Pate, who is overseeing the work.
Pate, who has partnered with Bobby Leatherman Jr. and Quinn Breland, said the majority of his attention lately has been focused on the greens. On Friday, Sept. 2, members of the staff of Champion Turf Farms of Bay City, Texas installed the company’s championship bermuda. The process takes several steps, Pate noted, and was being overseen by the company’s founder Morris Brown.
