Waste disposal woes plague Board of Supervisors
The issue of nonresidential waste was once again dumped on the Board of Supervisors at their first meeting in October.
Carl Simmons, Waste Management’s district manager at the Tunica Landfill, appeared before the board to answer questions. In July, Waste Management begin assessing a $20 per ton charge on nonresidential waste brought to the landfill.
Simmons said when the last “host agreement” was made with the county about 15 years ago, the fees for nonresidential waste were included.
