Ballot issue delays election certification
History was made in Tunica County on election day as African American candidates were elected to all five seats on the Board of Supervisors and other county offices.
Despite this stride, an election day snafu with ballots at one of the county’s largest voting precincts caused a delay in Tunica’s election certification and drew sharp criticism from an incumbent candidate who lost potential votes as a result of the error.
The issue stemmed from the names of the candidates for the District 25 House of Representatives race being left off the ballot while incorrectly featuring the name of a candidate from another district race.
