Suspect named in roadside killer case
Multiple law enforcement agencies converged at the Tunica County Sheriff’s Department on Friday, May 21, to announce an arrest in two linked shootings along roadways in North Mississippi. The suspect was taken into custody in Tunica County and is being held at the Tunica County jail.
James Willie, 28, was arrested for his alleged involvement in the deaths of Lori Carswell of Hernando and Thomas Schendler of Nebraska. Carswell , a local casino worker, was discovered along Highway 713 in Robinsonville at 2:17 a.m. on May 11. Three days earlier, Schendler was found along Interstate 55 in Panola County. He sustained fatal gun shot wounds.
