Rapper inspired by local people, places
Jeremy Wheeler barely remembers a time when music wasn’t a part of his life. Today, that aspect seems firmly rooted as the performer has released a new video, and his popularity is surging.
Wheeler, who is known as rapper Ya-Boi Slicc, has been taking to the stage in and around Tunica since seventh grade.
“I liked music. I liked beats, and I just started rapping,” Wheeler said simply.
Once his talent was revealed, there was no stopping him.
In the early days, he and his cousin recorded songs and played them on the bus to school. They also practiced and performed in local apartment complexes, pretty much whenever and wherever they got a chance.
