National Flood Insurance program extended
U.S. Senator Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) recently reported Senate passage of legislation to extend the National Flood Insurance Program through Sept. 30, reviving a program that had lapsed at the end of May.
The Senate approved the NFIP extension (HR.5569) by unanimous consent late Wednesday evening. In addition to extending the life of the NFIP program for three months, the measure also makes the NFIP effective retroactively to June 1. HR.5569 will now be referred to the President to be signed into law.
