Elizabeth Long, also known as Catfish Lil, is preparing to swim the mighty Mississippi River on Sept. 4.
Others may have gone before her, but Long has a special condition that makes this effort even more difficult than swimming against one of the strongest currents on earth. She has pulmonary hypertension, which is a condition that robs its victims of their very breath.
Regardless, Long is training and preparing herself for this journey and not for herself or even to bring awareness of her illness. Read more
