Utility company spotlights crime prevention
When daylight savings time ends on Sunday, Nov. 4, so does a measure of security. Shorter days mean more darkness and more opportunity for criminals.
Entergy Mississippi, Inc. reminds customers that security lighting can be an economical and effective crime-prevention tool. According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency, effective security lighting is the single most significant crime deterrent. It enhances natural surveillance, delineates private and public spaces, can help direct access and increase security and safety.
“Properly lighting your home or business takes the cover of darkness away from lawbreakers and is an important step in crime-prevention efforts,” said Napoleon Johnson, Entergy Mississippi vice president of customer operations.
