Upcoming projects benefit town, county
Two areas of governance where the town and county intersect were the primary topics of discussion by Tunica officials Tuesday.
Tunica County is poised to deed two fire trucks to the town, Mayor Chuck Cariker told aldermen, to assist in the purchase of a replacement truck for a rescue vehicle that is 16 years old and nearing the end of its useful life.
Cariker said that the state is pushing Tunica officials to use fire rebate funds that have been accumulating for a number of years and now total over $200,000. The funds must be used solely for purchasing new fire vehicles, or the state could reclaim the money, he said.
