Heroes emerge in tragic accident
“I want to thank everyone a million times over!” said Bethanne Acey in response to the outpouring of generosity and prayers by the citizens of Tunica County after her daughter Madysen was electrocuted in an accident in late April.
Acey has spent the last several weeks at Madysen’s side at Shriners Hospital in Cincinnati, as the ten-year-old Tunica Academy fifth grader recovers from skin grafting surgery following the loss of her right arm, left hand and repairs to severe wounds to her hip. Madysen will spend the next five days lying still to allow the new skin to heal before moving to either Shreveport or St. Louis to be fitted for new prosthetics and begin rehabilitation.
