Heritage area focuses on Delta
Memphis author Shelby Foote once claimed that one could see “a hundred years of history in 20 years in the Delta.”
A 1996 National Park Service symposium concluded that “much of what is profoundly American – what people love about America – has come from the Delta.”
“The cradle of American culture,” a land of mystique, home of the Blues and the birthplace of rock ‘n roll, inspiration to countless writers, artists and musicians...all these descriptions and more make the Delta a fascinating but often underappreciated part of the American story.
