Tunica leads state in unemployment
On March 13, the Mississippi Department of Employment Security announced that more Mississippians were employed in January 2013 than in December 2012, about 4,600 more according to preliminary numbers. The gain continues the upward trend in the state. The number of people employed in Mississippi in January 2013 is up 14,700 from a year ago in January 2012.
In Tunica, less eligible workers were on the job as the county topped the state with 20.9 percent or 990 people unemployed. Clay county was just ahead of of Tunica with 20.6 percent.
