Town mulls park’s use as food pantry site
Local food pantry organizers are seeking a go-ahead from the town to extend distribution events through March 2014.
Sister Gus Griffin of Catholic Social Services said a food truck originally scheduled to set up in downtown Tunica for a three-month period from October through December 2012 has now been extended, starting this March.
The mobile food pantry is being totally funded by Harrah’s Casino Tunica through the Caesar’s Foundation, Griffin said.
“(Caesar’s) now says they will go on for a whole year,” Griffin explained to Tunica aldermen on Tuesday.
