Charter proposals draw mixed reviews
Though two letters of intent have been submitted to the Mississippi Charter School Authorizer Board, citizens of Tunica County say they are still not certain how charter schools will improve education in the county, where the public school district is failing and the only other option is small fee-based, private Christian school Tunica Academy.
Tunica County Schools Superintendent Steve Chandler admitted he has a long way to go to get Tunica County schools on track but said he believes his plan will work if he’s given the time needed to see it happen.
