Church conference focuses on healthy living
Hylon Oliver of Tunica, a board member of Healthy Congregations, is assisting in planning the 2nd Annual Healthy Congregations Conference for Northwest Mississippi. The Oct. 9 event at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven will host key note speakers Dr. Dwayne Proctor, Director of the Childhood Obesity Team of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Dr. Joe Thompson, Director of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Center to Prevent Childhood Obesity.
“Churches already take responsibility for their members’ health in body, mind and spirit,” said Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi president Tom Pittman. “This conference will give them more tools and inspiration to be successful, especially in preventing diabetes and other chronic diseases in their children.”
