U.S. Rep. Travis Childers (MS-01) released the following regarding his vote last night in support of extending all income tax cuts contained in The Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001, as well as unemployment benefits, for the next two years:
“In times of economic recovery, it is essential that we keep things as they are in the short term in order to provide families and businesses with the certainty they need to plan and make sound budget decisions. In addition, it is counterproductive to our recovery, and harmful to American families, for us to cut off much-needed unemployment benefits to those who are jobless through no fault of their own.
