Harrah’s Tunica to host Miss Mississippi USA
Some of the most beautiful women in Mississippi will soon be competing for a crown in Tunica. The Miss Mississippi USA pageant and Miss Teen USA pageant will be held in Tunica this year at Harrah’s Casino Event Center November 4-6, 2010.
Kim Greenwood is the Executive Director of the event and the wife of country music star Lee Greenwood. As a former Miss Tennessee USA winner, she knows the pageants’ goals are to create opportunities for young women.

“Looking back, I realize that my year as Miss Tennessee USA will always be one of the most dynamic and positive experiences in my life, and now, I’m able to create these experiences for young women in Mississippi,” Greenwood said. “However, I also realize that even if I had never won the actual title, I would still be a stronger, more confident, self-assured, and goal oriented person simply as a result of my participation in the pageant. I truly believe in the personal growth and individual development that is cultivated by one’s participation in this organization.”
This is the 60th anniversary for the Miss Mississippi USA pageant. Greenwood says she chose Tunica, Mississippi, and Harrah’s Casino Tunica because the resort location had the best entertainment venues, luxury accommodations, and event planning services at affordable rates for groups.
“We look forward to hosting this event at Harrah’s Tunica and welcoming the contestants from across the state of Mississippi,” R. Scott Barber, Harrah’s Mid-South regional president, said.
Greenwood says the Miss Mississippi USA and Teen USA presentation show and finals will be open to the public.
“Miss USA pageants accept each contestant on an at-large basis through an application process and interview prior to the pageant,” she said. “Young women age 14-26, who meet the eligibility requirements listed on our website, may apply by visiting www.missmississippiusa.com.”
The winner of the Miss Mississippi USA will advance to the nationally televised 2011 Miss USA pageant held in Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood. The Miss Mississippi winner will receive an abundance of prizes including wardrobe, jewelry, and modeling opportunities and of course the opportunity to compete for the title of Miss Teen USA and Miss USA and perhaps Miss Universe! Additionally, the winners of Miss Mississippi USA and Miss Mississippi Teen USA will receive scholarships and other prizes.
