Guest Column: We're Alone Out Here, it seems
The news last week included stunning discoveries of new planets circling far away suns. One headline stated, “Researchers say they have detected dozens of potential worlds in regions that may support life.”
Somewhat ironically, I have just finished an excellent book called “Rare Earth” that argues intelligent life must be exceedingly rare. In fact, so rare that we are probably the only intelligent beings in our universe.
