Campaign signs not permitted on rights of way
The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) wishes to take this opportunity to advise political candidates about the placement of campaign signs being placed along state maintained highways.
MDOT would like to remind candidates that as they conduct their campaign for public office to please keep in mind that it is illegal to place campaign signs within the rights-of-way of state highways. Any signs along state maintained highway rights-of-way, including campaign signs, pose potential hazards, including wire and wood supports for these signs which cause damage to MDOT equipment and can become projectiles if hit by mowers.
